41 Year Draught at Stake.

Yes it’s a 41 year old draught for the touring side in water enclosed Kiwi land. I bet most of them in the present Indian team know it. But just if they have wandered off the fact, its high time they woke up and have a long hard look at the situation they are up against. After the first days play in Wellington the Indians looked contented after surviving a middle order slump to post a decent 375 at stumps. The point is its just day 1 and they are 9 down. Have four more presumably sunny days to go on a flat track with a result hungry Kiwi side.

Critiques have hit hard at the Kiwis on course to the final test for putting up an inexperienced cowboish side 4 the test series. But they have produced the highest single innings score so far in the series. The Kiwis have been blamed for not claiming twenty sticks so far in the series and I bet they are extremely aware of the ever increasing want for a perfect game. The curators haven’t helped their cause either, producing three flat sub continental type pitches. So all in all the Kiwis have been defending reactions all the way from day one since the tourists landed.

And mind you they have reacted. The 2^nd test which will be remembered as a classic rear guard showdown by the Indians to save their series lead lets not forget the 619 posted by the hosts. If one continually blames someone that someone if posses a head will react and try and make amends (refer to Newton’s 3^rd law). So it’s high time the Indians take a tough stand in this test match and make things uncomfortable for the hosts, cause failing which they might loose the prospect of quenching their 41 year old thirst for glory in the island. Failure to seal a series win might also make Dhonis men look silly even with their beaming experience and excellent credentials on paper. The first day’s play of the third test was more or less a replica of the fist day the Indians played in the tour. The Twenty20 game. They were flashy, tried to score of everything coming at them. They were lucky on a number of occasions. Irresponsible cricket if u consider the test format.

I am an ardent fan of the Indian cricket team and also a die hard test cricket follower. I am totally in for a massive Indian swipe to gift the veterans in the team a deserving series win. Through out my article I have been rather negative of my team’s achievements. This is because I don’t want them to fly yet. The draught still stands. We are 4 days away from it; 11 wickets in hand, 20 to claim. All three numbers mentioned above are equally important. Here is hoping the brighter captain will guide their men to comprehensively dodge or maintain the *greater cause.
